Bramcote Rd Development *UPDATED*

IMMEDIATE ACTION NEEDED TO SAVE OUR COUNTRYSIDE!

A planning application has been made just outside of our area just off Bramcote Road and is due before the Planning Committee at the Town Hall on 24 May 5pm. The proposal for 50 Houses by Charles Church is in the area know as "The Outwoods" which is an area that is enjoyed recreationally by lots of residents. For more information

Many of you may have heard of LSWAG (Loughborough South West Action Group) who are a voluntary group dedicated to campaigning for the protection of the beautiful stretch of Leicestershire countryside that lies between Loughborough, the Outwoods SSSI, and Nanpantan Road. They believe that there is an imminent danger of a creeping threat to our beautiful landscape between the current Loughborough built-up area and The Outwoods. They came into being to protect the land across the south west of Loughborough, which is designated as an "area of particularly attractive countryside" from unwanted development.

Charles Church homes have submitted an application to build 50 houses in the field at the end of Bramcote Road. Application number P/11/2842/2

LSWAG are very concerned for the following major reasons:

* THIS LAND IS OUTSIDE THE PERMITTED DEVELOPMENT AREA. To build upon it would set a precedent for all of the fields leading to The Outwoods. Other builders would jump on the bandwagon and try to gain planning permission for most of those fields which provide a tremendous leisure amenity for local residents. A further tranche of houses from this application site to Rainbows would obviously follow, probably from other developers.

This land is rightly designated by Charnwood Borough Council as “AN AREA OF PARTICULARLY ATTRACTIVE COUNTRYSIDE” and is arguably the most beautiful area of countryside adjacent to Loughborough.

* THE WHOLE AREA IS INCLUDED IN THE EMBRYONIC CHARNWOOD FOREST REGIONAL PARK. This concept must be protected from housing in this area.

We believe that the proposed development at the end of Bramcote Road is the thin end of the wedge and is the prelude to much more development, which will be accelerated if planning permission is also granted for the BIFFA Incinerator at J23 of the M1 motorway.

The loss of this countryside is unsustainable.

Do you want to lose it?

If not, let your Councillors and MP know and show your support by attending the planning meeting at the Town Hall on Thursday 24th May 2012 at 5pm. LSWAG need to demonstrate the strength of feeling – it is imperative that YOU attend. To find your Councillor go to www.charnwood.gov.uk/pages/democracy

Loughborough South-West Action Group has been fighting to protect these fields since 2009. Tel 01509 231303

PLEASE SHOW YOUR SUPPORT

Charnwood Borough Council - Policy ST/2 seeks to restrict development to within the existing limits to development, however an application has been submitted by Charles Church to build 50 houses on land at the end of Bramcote Road, which falls outside the limits of development and if accepted may well be the precursor to bigger and more extensive developments in this location.
